US needs a strong union for college/university faculty

We are in a struggle over who will be at the heart of the university. Will it be the faculty as it has been until now? Or will it be a management that imagines itself running just another business—a management with clear disregard for the educational quality of the institution and obvious disdain for the professional standing of faculty?
