Here's the truth: the Senate
could vote on the Republican health care bill any day now.
What's in it? Who the hell
knows... Mitch McConnell won't let anyone outside of a few Republicans see it.
And because he invoked some obscure procedural maneuver known as "Rule
14," it can come to the floor for a vote without committee hearings or
under regular order.
The last stop for Republicans
is to get a CBO score (cost estimate). That has to happen before a vote. So they're submitting
it for a score, but doing so without showing it to the public.
This is a bill that impacts
millions of veterans and one-sixth of our nation's economy. It's important that
we all make our voices heard and demand Republicans stop hiding the
legislation.
If Republicans won't show the
American people the bill, Democrats should grind the gears of the Senate to a
halt until they do. This is too important to happen behind closed doors.
Because the truth is, whatever Senate Republicans try to pass will likely be
swallowed by House Republicans. So this is it folks... what we see here is what
we'll probably get. That's why it's so important to see the bill.
