Abu Hamda can be heard crying out in pain after being struck, most likely by flying shrapnel from the blast. The building was a prominent residential complex located in the largest urban area in the Gaza Strip.

Pro-Palestine demonstrators in Liverpool stopped outside a Lush store during their rally, breaking into cheers and applause for the company’s bold stand against Israel’s assault on Gaza. On 3 September, Lush had shut every UK shop, website and factory for the day, covering its windows with the message "Stop starving Gaza, we are closed in solidarity". The company made losses of around £300,000 in sales to send a message to the UK government to stop arming Israel.
