A video shows the moment Palestinian photographer Mahmoud Abu Hamda was injured while covering Israel’s bombing of the al-Roya residential building in Gaza City. Abu Hamda can be heard crying out in pain after being struck, most likely by flying shrapnel from the blast. The building was a prominent residential complex located in the largest urban area in the Gaza Strip.

Pro-Palestine demonstrators in Liverpool stopped outside a Lush store during their rally, breaking into cheers and applause for the company’s bold stand against Israel’s assault on Gaza. On 3 September, Lush had shut every UK shop, website and factory for the day, covering its windows with the message "Stop starving Gaza, we are closed in solidarity". The company made losses of around £300,000 in sales to send a message to the UK government to stop arming Israel.

Around 200,000 demonstrators marched today in Brussels, demanding an immediate ceasefire and more humanitarian aid for Palestinians facing genocide in Gaza. The protest comes as famine in the strip worsens, with the UN warning of catastrophic conditions. Belgium has taken a firmer stance than the majority of EU countries, recently announcing that it would conditionally recognise a Palestinian state later this month. It has also placed sanctions on Israel, a move that was described by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu as "weak". However, organisers insist that such decisions must move beyond symbolism, and urged for wider EU sanctions on Israel.

Netanyahu claims progress on Gaza assault as Israelis demand end to war

Israel's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed "around 100,000" Palestinians had fled Gaza City, devastated by famine and intense bombardment. On the same day, Israel's foreign minister Gideon Saar threatened that international attempts to recognise a Palestinian state could push Israel "to make unilateral decisions", signalling a potential move to formally annex the occupied West Bank. Their statements come as Israelis gathered in major cities on Saturday night to demand a deal that would return the captives still held in Gaza and end the war.
