The results are in and MPP members overwhelmingly voted to take emergency action on racist police brutality and the total failure of the corporate parties to protect the people during this catastrophic pandemic and depression.
In 1966, Martin Luther King Jr. and 5,000 supporters marched to Chicago City Hall and nailed their demands to end housing discrimination to its doors.
On Saturday, June 27, we will lead honking car caravans and in-person marches and rallies to deliver our emergency demands straight to the homes and doorsteps of every U.S. Representative, Senator, and the President. Then we will see who has the guts to come outside, face the people they claim to represent, and accept our demands.
We are demanding:
1. Get the military off our streets and rein in the police
2. Medicare for all
3. Cover payroll to keep people off unemployment and protect small businesses
4. Monthly $2,000 cash payments for all
5. Suspend all rent and mortgage payments
6. Suspend all student and credit card loan payments
With historic unemployment and poverty gripping the country, and militarized and racist police forces brutalizing Americans after Minneapolis police murdered George Floyd, our survival depends on this. Click here to sign up to help organize or attend an action at your member of Congress' house. We will send you an organizing kit with all of the resources that you'll need.
Every one of our demands is hugely popular and desperately needed. Join the National Call tonight at 8:30 pm ET / 5:30 pm PT to hear how we will be organizing and to start planning an action in your area. Jerry Perez with Our Revolution Los Angeles will speak as a veteran about Trump's deployment of the military against the American people. Otis Buckley will speak about systemic racism and policing. Laura Irwin Morris will speak about how even in the middle of a national revolt, Bernie Sanders is still censoring his delegates for so much as criticizing Biden and corporate Democrats.

Horrific scenes have unfolded in the past few days as military police have invaded American streets and laid siege to private residences who were sheltering protesters and tending to the wounded. Armored vehicles have been deployed in American cities and U.S. Military soldiers armed with rifles and bayonets were stationed outside D.C. Protests outside the White House led the Secret Service to move Trump to a bunker underneath the White House at least once on Friday.
On Monday, Trump violently attacked hundreds of peaceful protesters outside the White House, beating demonstrators and journalists alike and firing pepper balls and rubber bullets into the crowd. In an Orwellian scene, his attack against protesters took place in the middle of his national address where he claimed to be acting in defense of peaceful assembly. We soon discovered that Attorney General William Barr, one of the highest legal authorities in the U.S., personally ordered the attack on protesters exercising their first amendment rights in a brazen display of the two-tiered justice system that has sparked an American rebellion. The Trump administration is flaunting the lawlessness of the Government.
In some parts of the country, like Los Angeles, curfews have begun as early as 1:30 pm. That has left only a few hours each day that are not under curfew, effectively placing those areas under martial law. Yet thousands of people across the country have refused to relent. They have defied curfews, repression and police brutality to peacefully protest in larger and larger numbers.
Now hundreds of veterans have signed a letter by About Face: Veterans Against the War letter to members of the National Guard across the country urging them to make the "moral choice" and refuse to deploy against protesters in the streets.
Our emergency action will spotlight the Representatives, Senators, and President who ultimately enforce systemic racism. The officials who have exploited a pandemic and depression to oversee a multi-trillion dollar Wall Street bailout. The representatives who have legally codified looting into an industrial and national scale system of permanent exploitation, weaponized against poor and working people and threatening their very survival.
Millions can no longer afford rent. A third of families with children are suffering from a lack of food. Thousands are poised to be evicted when moratoriums on foreclosures lift next month. More than 40 million Americans are unemployed. And more than 40 percent of small businesses are expected to go bankrupt in the next few months. Meanwhile, stimulus checks were seized by debt collectors, small businesses relief funds were vacuumed up by large corporations, and the U.S. Treasury and Fed shoveled trillions into Wall Street.
As Cornel West said in an interview this week, it looks as if "the system cannot reform itself." The U.S. is a failed state and we need a new government. Join us across the country to deliver our demands directly to the members of Congress, Senators, and President who uphold this vicious system and tell them "time's up."
