A 21-year-old nursing assistant at the Edward C. Allworth Veterans' Home in Lebanon, a focal point of Oregon's coronavirus outbreak, describes long hours, dwindling supplies and close friendships inside the state-run home. Fourteen of the home’s 151 residents are infected, half of them over 90. Most are in good condition.

Alicia Forseth said she’s speaking out because people can’t help if they don’t know what’s going on inside. She said she wants people to know how dedicated the nurses and nursing assistants have been and how supportive the veterans home itself has been, too.

“I feel absolutely honored to fight for the lives of the men who fought for our country,” she said.
