Washington D.C. — These are times that test the metal of social and economic policy. In response, the Center for Economic and Policy Research today published two articles, Concrete Solutions to Mitigate the Health and Economic Impacts of the Pandemic and COVID-19 and the Importance of Minimum-Income Systems.

In the first piece, CEPR experts, Eileen Appelbaum, Dean Baker, Jeff Hauser, and Shawn Fremstad team up to present a broad list of practical, doable solutions to mitigate the impacts of the pandemic. In the second piece, Fremstad points out weaknesses in programs like SNAP and TANF and offers immediate actions that can be taken as the current crisis increases their need.

CEPR experts are available for comment.
