May Day message from Sunrise Movement

Across the country, our communities are asking for support, aid, and protection. People everywhere need help to receive medical care, stay fed, stay safe, and make rent.

From Amazon workers striking for safer working conditions, to undocumented communities who have been barred from stimulus assistance, to people struggling with water shutoffs and long food lines, to renters & homeowners demanding rent & mortgage cancellation, to the 26 million workers who are now unemployed: Our fights are connected. We need a People's Bailout that includes us all.

On May 1, 2020 people across the country will join others globally to make some noise and tell our stories, in solidarity with one another. To join the May Day Live Stream and share what action you are taking with us go to ThePeoplesBailout.org/MayDay

In this moment, Congress must pass relief and stimulus packages to meet the needs of our communities. People are coming together to demand regular monthly cash payments to all communities, free testing and treatment for all, safety standards and equipment to protect frontline workers, emergency housing assistance and rent and mortgage cancellation, a moratorium on water and electricity shutoffs, funding to address the racial disparities of this crisis, expanded food aid, support for businesses that are actually small, protections for voters and poll workers to safeguard our democracy, and real investment in a bold plan to put millions of people back to work building a healthier, more equitable, more resilient economy.

The government must invest in our communities, not corporate executives. It’s time to chart a path to an economy that works for all, not a return to the unjust status quo.

Stay safe out there,

Sunrise
